Steve & Saskia with Bridesmaids

Saskia and Steve got married in November 2007 in South Africa. Pictured are Steve and Saskia with their bridesmaids. From Saskia's message to the group: "After 12 years together, Steve and I have finally gotten around to getting married. It all happened next to the beach on a sunny day in South Africa last month, with nearly 40 of our closest (and well travelled) friends and family. We all had a wonderful time and couldn't have asked for a better day."

Northern Virginia Men

Daniel H., Matt M., and Fernando P. at Fernando's home in Northern Virginia. All three families got together for steaks, hot dogs, and a swim in the bathtub-like heated waters of the P.'s pool. Fernando's son, like the Pied Piper, led the younger kids of Daniel and Matt's families on a tour of the P.'s pool, playground equipment, and patio while the grown-ups posed for pretty picture like this one.

And Daniel has a "p" fixation. It all started long ago, with a teacher called Fred "P." Daly...

Photos from DC Metro Regional Reunion

Jackie (S.) and Kevin W. hosted, along with Jackie's sisters Julie and Tanya, a mini-reunion for AIS folks from the (very extended) DC Metro area. Alumni came to their house in Northern Virginia from as far away as Virginia Beach, and invites were sent out to folks from Boston and New York to Atlanta and Florida. Fernando P. took photos and has posted them online in his Yahoo! Photos album. Thanks to Jackie and Kevin for hosting, and good luck to Julia as she heads for a three-month job at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

Tatko's Reunion Slideshow

Tatko gave me the slides from the Gala Dinner Slideshow to scan and post. For the time being, 250 of the 271 slides can be accessed online using Shutterfly at share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AaNXLFm1cMmLjQ (Shutterfly allows only 250 total photos to be shared). You do not need to create a Shutterfly account to view the slides.

Once the AIS Alumni Association Web site is able to handle photo uploads, I plan to post these photos to the ais-alumni.com site. Tatko has also given me additional slides from his collection to scan, and he plans to continue sending me what he terms are "thousands of slides" to scan and post in the future. Meanwhile, enjoy what Shutterfly allows me to share!

Alon K. and Fran. I believe Fran apparently 1) just swallowed an Israeli cockroach, 2) is attempting to explain to Alon the very serious principle of Gonen's "de olif procedure," 3) can't believe that Ed Tatko just mooned her (or enjoyed it very much), or 4) can't believe where Alon's hand just landed.
